To determine whether you need a left or right hinge for your ASUS laptop, always view the device from the front in its normal operating position, facing the screen:
- Left Hinge: Located on the left side of the screen when facing the keyboard. Stamped with an "L" (or "SNR-L", in the featured example) on the metal bracket.
- Right Hinge: Located on the right side of the screen when facing the keyboard. Stamped with an "R" (or "SNR-R", in the featured example) on the metal bracket.
Note: Hinge orientation is determined from the user's perspective while using the laptop, not from behind the display assembly or under the bottom chassis.
You can also compare the asymmetrical pattern of the screw holes and tabs against the mounting posts on your laptop's chassis or back cover. They will only line up flush on their correct side.
